IOM Human Concern International Sign USD 1 Million Agreement to Tackle Human Trafficking

On 6 November 2025, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Human Concern International (HCI), Canada’s oldest Muslim relief organization, signed a 1 million USD agreement to strengthen protection systems and provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by crisis, displacement, and human trafficking.

Grounded in Islamic values such as Zakat and Sadaqah, the partnership reflects both organizations’ shared commitment to uphold human dignity and combat exploitation. IOM Chief of Staff Mohammed Abdiker emphasized that the agreement reinforces the role of faith-based collaboration in addressing root causes of human trafficking.

HCI’s CEO Mahmuda Khan highlighted the importance of joint action amid global crises that increase vulnerability to abuse. The partnership supports IOM’s broader initiatives, including the Islamic Philanthropy Fund (IPF) launched in February 2025, and will focus on protecting at-risk communities in Bangladesh, Sudan, Libya, and Ukraine.

This collaboration underscores a growing humanitarian effort to translate compassion into action and ensure that no one is left behind.
