Stand With Palestine

The Situation and Our Response

The West Bank of Palestine has been the site of ongoing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians for decades. Sadly, one of the most disturbing aspects of this conflict has been the human rights abuses committed by Israeli soldiers against Palestinians living in the West Bank.

Reports of abuses are widespread and include incidents of torture, arbitrary detention, and extrajudicial killings. These abuses have particularly affected Palestinian children, with reports of children being detained, interrogated, and even tortured by Israeli soldiers.

One of the most egregious examples of abuse is the use of live ammunition against unarmed Palestinian civilians. According to human rights organizations, Israeli soldiers have used live ammunition against protesters, resulting in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries.

More recently, Israeli forces have stormed the city of Jenin, where there have been reports of Israeli bulldozers demolishing streets, and Palestinian residents experienced several hours of electricity blackouts. Tragically, ten Palestinians have lost their lives, and over 100 others have been injured, including civilians.

Despite the widespread reports of abuses, Israeli soldiers are rarely held accountable for their actions. This lack of accountability has only served to exacerbate tensions between Israelis and Palestinians and has made it difficult to find a path toward peace.

Human Concern International is on the ground, doing what we can to make a difference.

A needs assessment will determine the extent of the disaster and identify the short and long-term needs of the affected people, as well as the beneficiaries, for HCI’s assistance.

The relief effort comprises three phases:

  1. Emergency Relief provides basic necessities and healthcare;
  2. Early Recovery focuses on rebuilding permanent housing and supporting education;
  3. Community Development involves restoring health systems, providing psychosocial support, and rebuilding infrastructure and social systems.
